Between later last year and earlier this year, I was bored out of my mind at work. I can’t constantly play ACNL during work, so I start considering which movies I should watch. A few months prior, my cousins discussed with me that they have completed watching all eight Harry Potter movies. Then it dawned on me that it’s been so long since I talk and read about it. I kind of missed it. So, I decided to watch the movies from the beginning.
I have an on and off relationship-ish with Harry Potter. Back in school, only the cool kids read Harry Potter (at least that’s how I remember it). I was curious, very curious so I borrowed the first book from a classmate, she’s nice. Since I’m a casual fan of magic, I was delighted with the first book. I had no idea that the story was set during modern time but Hogwarts was during traditional times, which kind of makes sense. It described how different London and Hogwarts are. Then the first movie came out later in the year. It had huge impact! Harry Potter stationary, bags and toys were everywhere! I played the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone game on PlayStation which I really loved but never get to finish it. I read the books but stop sometime after the fifth book was released. I had no idea why I stopped. Probably anime influence was super strong at the time and I was in the Naruto fandom (I left later on because it got too much to me). Okay, maybe I’m the one who have an issue here.
I watched Screen Junkies’ Movie Fights – Harry Potter episode before I started to rewatch Harry Potter movies. This was to celebrate the release of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them movie worldwide. I enjoyed watching the debate and it got me excited about the fandom all over again. I remember a time when the Fantastic Beasts movie trailer was released during MTV Movie Award 2016 (I think), Harry Potter theme song (I don’t know the exact name of the song as I’m typing this, please forgive me) was at the end of the trailer and it gave me goosebumps. Man, do I miss that song.
After I completed watching the movies, at first I was numb (because there was a lot to take in) and then happy (because I feel accomplished, hehe…). I returned home from work to find whether I still have my Harry Potter books. To my delight, I still have them but to my horror, I lost the second book. When I browsed through the pages, they were yellow now (obviously), more than 10 years old and slightly battered because I remember I used to bring the first book everywhere alot of time. Right now, I’m in the process of re-reading the first book, and yes I bring it everywhere with me. It’s a little hard to juggle reading and playing ACNL since the game is in real time. I’m not too fond of time travelling in game, I mean I did a few times but it’s not favorable.
Oh right, I forgot to mentioned about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I did spoil myself on the story. Albus Potter was in Deathly Hallow Part 2 movie and I have a soft spot for him. I understand his worries at the end of the movie. I can’t say much about it since I did not read the book, only rely on information from wiki. It’ll be a while for me to get back to reading the books again. I mean, if I really can’t find Camber of Secrets, then I have to buy it again. The cover will probably be different. 😦 Speaking of the books, I saw a copy of Philosopher’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets illustrated books in Malay language a couple of months ago. They’re expensive but pretty.
I registered at Pottermore a few days back and I got sorted in Hufflepuff. It kind of makes sense to me. According to the website, my wand is an Alder, dragon heartstring, 12 and three-quaters inches. That’s interesting. I haven’t tried the Patronus quiz so I’m excited to see the result. I did try the same quiz on PlayBuzz; I was sorted in Ravenclaw and my patronus was a komodo dragon. 😯
I guess that is all from me for this entry. Are you a fan of Harry Potter fandom? Did you get sorted via Pottermore? What is your patronus?
